Hi bubble lovers!
I just received this random request for information about a vintage bubble toy they owned from someone i met:
"Hi Sam,
It was lovely to meet you last week. As promised here are some photos of the bubble brush I told you about.
I'm going to order some of your bubble liquid which I think will work really well with it!
As you can see from the photos there is one available for $49 on ebay - I would like to be able to buy more of them but not that badly!
Would be interested to hear your thoughts.
Kind regards,
V"

As you may know i have a big collection of vintage bubble toys - the biggest in the world so I love questions that challenge my interest and thought you'd be interested in my response::
Hi V!
Thanks for sending me your question! Bubblo's toys were made by an American company "Toi" from the 80's. I own another one of their toys - The Bubble Bee - la kind of bubble poi device that creates streams of bubbles whilst you twirl it around!
The Bubble Brush is a great redesign of the humble bubble wand. Originally wands came flat without ridges in a glass jar. I have one from the 1950's.
It's not known who created the first 'ridged' bubble wands but the idea was to increase the amount of fluid that can be held to make bigger and more bubbles with each dip. And that's exactly what we have here! By using bristles instead of a wand, they created a bigger reservoir!
Of course, this is all dependent on the bubble solution. One of the key parts of my job as a "Bubbleologist" is knowing which bubble solution /recipe to use for the purpose. My company Bubble Inc has several - Regularsolution for blowing, Bubble gun solution, Premium fluidfor bubble machines, and Supapop solution for making Giant bubbles! That's in addition to our more quirky solutions including Ultra Violet bubbles; bacon scented bubbles for dogs; Catnip infused bubblesfor cats; 'Touchable' (can last years!); and even Edible bubbles! It's amazing what you can do with a bubble!"
Anyone else got a question?
